Kat and her crew travel to Dogwood, a village with a monster problem. On the scale of easy adventures, killing a murderous monster rates high on the easy side.

With her and her crew's experience, she boasts that they’ll ride in, kill the monster, get paid, and be home before the week ends. She should have known better than to brag. 

Of course, Fate proved her arrogance shockingly wrong. Dogwood turned out to be a nightmarishly creepy village. And the mayor and his family behaved in an alarmingly macabre ways.
